What Is a Crimp Closure?
Demystify the crimp closure before you touch any tools.
A crimp closure is a small metal tube - called a crimp bead - that you squeeze around your beading wire to lock it in place at the clasp end of a necklace.
Three parts work together: the crimp bead (the tube), the beading wire (threaded through it), and the clasp loop (what the wire loops around before coming back through the bead). The crimp bead is squeezed twice - first to fold, then to round - and that two-stage action is exactly where most beginners go wrong.
It looks fiddly at first because the bead is tiny and the wire doubles back on itself. But each step has one clear action, and once you see the logic of the sequence, it clicks fast.
