4 Myths of Happiness: Introduction to ACT

People often come into therapy (or start inner work) with unhelpful assumptions about what happiness is supposed to look like, and expectations about what therapy should help them achieve. These myths can shape the work before it has even begun.

Based on the ideas in Russ Harris’ The Happiness Trap, I made this illustration to gently challenge some of these assumptions, providing a useful starting point for ACT and ACT-informed therapy.

Inside (5 pages total): • One illustrated “4 Myths of Happiness” poster for general display • Four illustrated psychoeducational pieces, each exploring one common myth about happiness and offering an alternative perspectives (based on ACT) • Textured + print-friendly versions included (10 pages total)

For psychoeducation, therapy discussions, or introducing ACT-informed ideas around happiness and psychological flexibility.

hope it helps! :) – aika (@theoxfordpsych)
